If you run a small business, you will already know the importance of having a reliable and convenient bank account that suits your needs. With many options available, it can be difficult to know how to choose the best one for your business.
When comparing business bank accounts, consider the following factors:
• Fees and charges: How much will you pay for monthly account maintenance, transactions, ATM withdrawals, foreign currency conversions, overdrafts etc.?
• Interest rates: How much interest will you pay on your borrowing and how much will you earn on your balance?
• Features and benefits: What perks and services does the account offer, such as online banking, mobile app, debit card, credit card, cheque book etc.?
• Customer service: Is it easy to contact the bank and get support when you need it? How satisfied are their customers?
• Reputation and security: Does the bank have a good reputation and is it trustworthy? Will your money and personal information be safe with them?
Revolut Business is a bank in some regions they operate in, including the EEA (European Economic Area). Revolut Bank UAB holds a full banking license in Lithuania, allowing them to offer cross-border banking services to their business customers in the EEA.
But Revolut Business is not a bank everywhere yet, including in the UK. Revolut Business continues to work towards securing a UK Banking Licence. In the meantime, they offer UK Customers e-money services, and hold their customer's deposits securely in a third-party licenced bank.
Revolut does not offer FSCS protection in all markets, including the UK. However, every market that does not have FSCS protection does have safeguarding in place.
Revolut Business don't lend your money to others. When they receive a payment for your account, or you add money to it, they place the equivalent value of e-money in your account. They quickly either:
place the money into their ring-fenced accounts that we hold with large global banks (ring-fenced accounts are separate from their own money); or
invest the payment in low-risk assets held in a separate account with financial institutions.
Safeguarding helps protect you if they were to become insolvent. Safeguarding regulations make sure that once they have paid any costs related to an administrator or liquidator, they must repay you from our ring-fenced accounts before they repay any others they owe money to.
The law doesn't allow them to pay you interest, and the money in your account isn't covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).
No. As Revolut Business does not offer credit solutions they don't carry out credit checks.
The set-up time is typically within hours once all required information has been received.
You can access your account via mobile and web apps.
Revolut accounts do not currently support cash or cheque deposits.
Yes. There is a 2% fee on all ATM withdrawals.
